Riel Miller probably wouldn’t want me to say it like that, but I will write it anyways. He is a Legendary Futurist, a globally renowned, visionary thinker, celebrated for pioneering Futures Literacy as a transformative capability. As the former Head of Futures Literacy at UNESCO, Riel has spent decades helping people and organizations explore uncertainty with curiosity and creativity. Riel’s profound insights and dedication to advancing anticipatory practices have left an indelible mark on the field of Futures Studies and beyond.
Even more importantly, it’s always a joy to exchange ideas with him—to listen, learn, and be inspired by his multifaceted experiences. Truthfully, I had prepared a set of challenging questions about the complexities, technicalities, and difficulties of Futures Studies, but I got so caught up in the elegance and flow of the conversation that I forgot to ask them. There are certainly worse things in life than being swept up in the futures wisdom of Riel Miller’s thinking.
